Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover: This is my second book by Colleen and I love her writing style, though I understand many don’t. What makes her books stand out for me is how much character interiority she shares with the reader. She picks difficult topics to write about, but being so close to the character’s internal struggle makes the situation come alive. Reminders of Him is about a young woman who had to give up her baby the moment after she gave birth in prison. When she completes her five-year prison sentence, she seeks to find her daughter, hoping to become a part of her life. Of course, the story is about why that appears impossible. The protagonist, Kenna, also finds an unlikely alley, who becomes her love interest… with complications. The characters in the story are so convincing that they touch your heart and make you want to cheer as forgiveness and humanity are restored. That’s all I can say. Read the book!
