Where the Grass Grows Blue by Hope Gibbs. I found this book to be an intriguing story of how a woman’s traumatic past crippled her adult life. Peggy is the daughter of a mean drunk and the town slut in a small religious community. The chaos that happened in her home filled her developmental years with shame, secrets, and heartache. After escaping to college, Peggy rebuilds her life only to have it collapse again. At about the same time, Peggy must return to her childhood community to manage her grandmother’s estate. She didn’t expect what would happen next.
